The Biomedical NMR group participates in several sponsored multi-disciplinary collaborations.

National collaborations include:

  • the BSIK (Besluit Subsidies Investeringen Kennisinfrastructuur) program (“Molecular Imaging of Ischemic Heart Disease”), jointly with Maastricht University, Philips Research Europe and Organon (grant number: BSIK03033);
  • Netherlands Heart Foundation program grant (“Screening for rupture-prone atherosclerotic plaques with molecular MRI”), jointly with prof. Rob E. Poelmann (Leiden Unversity Medical Center) and prof. Cees J.A. van Echteld (Utrecht University Medical Center) (grant number: 2006T106);
  • ECHO grant (“Silica-based nanoparticles for magnetic resonance and optical molecular imaging”) from the Chemical Sciences division of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), with prof. Andries Meijerink (Utrecht University) and dr. Willem Mulder (Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York) (grant number: ECHO.06.B.047);
  • Open competition grant from the NWO Technology Foundation STW, coordinated by dr. Cees Oomens (TU/e), entitled “A physiological monitor for early detection of deep pressure ulcers” (grant number: 07386);
  • The VIDI-grant (“Molecular Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Myocardial Infarction”) that was obtained by dr Gustav Strijkers from NWO’s Innovational Research Incentives Scheme (grant number: EGT.7952);
  • The Netherlands genomics Initiative-sponsored Netherlands Systems Biology Consortium (NLSysBio) (coordinator: prof Roel van Driel (Amsterdam University)), jointly with dr. Ko Willems van Dijk (Leiden University Medical Center) (grant number: ?).

International collaborations:

  • the EU-sponsored Network-of-Excellence Diagnostic Molecular Imaging (DiMI), aimed at the advancement of molecular imaging technologies for cardiovascular, neurological applications (grant number: LSHB-CT-2005-512146);
  • the EU-sponsored Integrated project MEDITRANS, a multidisciplinary consortium dealing with image-guided, targeted delivery of novel nano-medicines for the treatment of chronic inflammation, cancer and neurodegeneration (coordinator: prof Gert Storm, Utrecht University) (grant number: NMP4-CT-2006-026668);
  • the EU-sponsored Large Collaborative Project (coordinator: Philips Research Europe), entitled “Image-controlled ultrasound-induced drug delivery” (acronym: SonoDrugs), which is aimed at the design, evaluation and preclinical application of nanotechnology-based targeted delivery systems for future in vivo therapeutics of cardiovascular disease and tumors using a combination of ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (grant number: CP-IP  213706-2).
