Bram Coolen studied Biomedical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He obtained his MSc degree (cum laude) on the simulation of Balanced steady-state free precession MRI sequences, in particular on the effect of slice profiles and RF pulse shapes.  This was done in the Biomedical NMR group of prof. Klaas Nicolay. Currently, he is a PhD student at the same group working in a project regarding "Molecular Imaging of myocardial infarction". The focus is on quantatative magnetic resonance techniques for cardiac imaging.
