is Professor of Pathology. Dr. Daemen studied at the Universiteit Maastricht and he received his MD in 1983, and his PhD in pharmacology in 1987. He spent a post-doctoral year with Dr. S. Schwartz at the Department of Pathology, University of Washington. He then worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Pathology at the Universiteit Maastricht and finished his residence in Pathology in 1994. He was appointed full professor in 1997. Dr. Daemen's present research interests are in the growth regulation in the heart and vascular wall with special emphasis of the role of the extracellular matrix herein.
